The benefits of intermittent fasting are put to use in a variety of ways, including decreased oxidative stress, improved circadian rhythms, and ketogenesis. Through maintaining insulin sensitivity, intermittent fasting throughout Ramadan has positive consequences. Additionally, it produced favorable results for fat and weight loss. IF controls cognition and slows the aging process. Additionally, it promotes autophagy, has anti-inflammatory properties, and benefits the gut microbiota.

Consequences

Body weight change was the main effect of intermittent fasting. Subordinate effects include (a) anthropometric changes, such as changes in BMI, waist circumference, fat mass, and fat-free mass; (b) cardio-metabolic effects, such as changes in glucose, insulin, lipoprotein, and blood pressure profiles; and (c) lifestyle effects, such as changes in diet, physical activity, attitude, and behavior.
